Why Have We Stopped Publishing The Diary of a Dick by Richard Smith?

As you all know, The Diary of a Dick by Richard Smith is the 4th book by author Phil Woods, and it was decided that we would give it away free online for a while. We have done that and the story now gets interesting, with heartache, laughter and controversy all in one diary of a man who you'll grow to love.

We are going to set up a crowdfunding project in the new year, so this book can be published in paperback and e-book format, in its entirety. We have had offers from publishers who wanted the book rushed to a short deadline after seeing the first half of the book, Phil said no, the reason being is that he wanted to write the book at a pace that suited him. A good book is never rushed, a good book comes from the heart and soul of the author.

The crowdfunding project will be one which offers rewards for donations, not simply begging for cash. Phil has had an experience with a publisher for his first book and they were simply inadequate when it came to marketing, most of the marketing and arranging of book signings etc were done by Phil and his co-author Steve Smith. This time it will be done right. Over the Christmas period we will be busy on Excel working out exactly how much a good strong marketing campaign will cost and how much it will cost to publish the book properly. This will become our target figure for crowdfunding.

We feel there is enough material online now for people to see in order to make an informed decision as to whether to back this book or not. We hope we've made you laugh, cringe, get angry and had any such emotion when reading The Diary of a Dick by Richard Smith so far.

We believe this could be a best seller, we believe that the title of the book will be a good marketing tool in itself, it's controversial whilst having a simple explanation.

If you've enjoyed what you've read so far, we hope that when we launch the crowdfunding in the new year, that you'll back it and you will be rewarded for doing so, another thing we have to consider before launching a campaign. Thank you to everyone who has helped promoted this so far, in particular Micheal Roberts for his video skills interviewing Richard Smith, Karen Woodham of Blazing Minds for her great review and John Currums for being an avid and interactive reader on Facebook. I hope we can count on your continued support during the crowdfunding,
